WoTC just dropped a brand new module: ‘Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos’

Today. Is. The. Day.

Wizards of the Coast has officially dropped their latest sourcebook for Dungeons and Dragons 5th editions, the adventure module Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos

Here’s what you need to know about the newest addition to 5e:

Overview

The new book is first-and-foremost an adventure module, but that doesn’t mean that a few other goodies haven’t been included as WoTC continues to optimize 5th edition. According to the official website, “Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos introduces the fantastical setting of Strixhaven University, drawn from the multiverse of Magic: The Gathering, and provides rules for creating characters who are students in one of its five colleges.”

There are four adventures included in the module, which can either be combined for a full campaign or as stand-alones. Each one counts as one year on campus (a la Harry Potter), and will take players from Level 1 to Level 10 if played all the way through.

Here’s an affiliate link if you’re planning to pick it up (and if you might want to give a little kickback to your fav D&D blog): https://amzn.to/3lNiXGY

Price: Wizards has it listed as $49.95, but Amazon currently has it at $34.99 (as of the evening of December 8).

What else is included?

Along with the four adventures (and I should note that spanning levels 1 to 10 is no small amount of adventuring!), the new book also includes a chance to experience at-magic-school life with classes, extracurriculars, and potential romaaaance.

There are also new player character options with new feats, backgrounds, and a new Owlin race, which we think is just adorable. New spells and magic items will also be incorporated.

There’s also a pretty gorgeous Alt-Cover version that will run you about twice as much, but just behold the beauty:

Verdict

…What do you mean verdict? We haven’t even gotten our hands on this book yet, let alone played it, but from what we’ve seen it seems like it will be quite the pick-up for the holiday season.

I love that the 1-10 level module can be broken down into 4 different adventures/school years, so that it isn’t all that much of a commitment for that friend group/D&D party of yours that is infamous for never being able to figure out scheduling.

Plus, I mean, Owlin? Come on. Who doesn’t want to live out their best owly lives in honour of Hedwig’s?

Too soon? Too soon.
