#SatanicPanic trending on Twitter brings up stories of 80s D&D controversy

You wouldn’t think that “Old Town Road” artist Lil Nas X and the game of Dungeons and Dragons would have much in common, but March 29 has proven a direct link.

Twitter was buzzing on Monday about a collaboration between the Lil Nas X and the company MSCHF, who are now offering a pair of Satan Shoes to 666 customers.

According to a New York Times article, the shoes will even contain a drop of human blood — consensually donated by workers at MSCHF.

So what exactly does this have to do with Dungeons and Dragons?

Well, the shoes have started some heated discussions on Twitter, resulting in the hashtag #SatanicPanic to trend — a panic known far too well by anyone who happened to play D&D back in the 80s.
