Every D&D session features collaborative storytelling… so why not a multi-million dollar motion picture?
D&D players are doing what they do best upon hearing news of the Dungeons and Dragons movie casting being underway; they’re coming up with some hilarious (and creative) ways that the story could go.
- Check these out:
It was most recently announced that Bridgerton‘s Regé-Jean Page will be joining a cast including Christ Pine, Justice Smith, and Michelle Rodriguez for the 2022 movie.
One of the most popular ideas floated for the plot of the Dungeons and Dragons movie comes from Twitter user Severed Sons A D&D Podcast (@SeveredSonsDnD), which wrote: “The Dungeons and Dragons movie should kill off a character only to have the party meet a NEW character played by the same actor in the next scene.”

The take evidently struck a chord with the community, resulting in nearly 100 replies, over 1,600 retweets, and over 10,300 likes in a single day.
Other Tweeters, naturally, expanded on the idea (as D&D players are wont to do):
Great idea. I’d give it a scene or two for the party to mourn the premature death and find an inn, though.
After a moment to breathe, them showing up at the bar would be mic drop hilarious.
Esp the party’s reaction or different reaction or nonreaction to the same face.

Bonus points if they ask for the previous character’s stuff.

And a few other users took the would-be plot a little off the rails:
If they want the movie to capture an authentic tabletop experience it should be 2 hours of the PCs rifling through the dressers and closets of an abandoned village for a gross revenue of 7gp, 3ep, 26sp, 212cp, 2 bolts of silk, 4 iron ingots, 2 agates, and 3 horseshoes.

The characters freeze but their mouth move as they discuss how it works in the player’s voices and even the BBEG discusses in the DM’s voice 😂

The movie’s script is actually being written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who also worked on Spiderman: Homecoming, and will be co-directing the movie.
Dungeons and Dragons is expected to be released on May 27, 2022 — and we look forward to more hilarious takes in the mean time!
