A 4-year-old offered hilarious D&D advice we didn’t know we needed

This 4-year-old has it all figured out.

D&D rapper redwyrm (@redwyrmofficial) posted to Twitter on Tuesday a collection of advice from his 4-year-old son, and let’s just say that the kid has a better handle of how the game works (and proper D&D table etiquette) than many grown up players.

Redwyrm posted a three part series that can be found on his Twitter account of both advice for players and for Dungeon Masters.

We’ll embed the full list below, but here are just a few of our favs up top:

For the players

  • Roll high numbers
  • Make sure you have some blocks nearby in case you get bored with what the Dungeon Master is saying
  • Don’t step in black pudding
  • It is just a game. Your character doesn’t have to poop
  • Stay away from Dragon breath
  • Your character can be a boy or a girl
  • You don’t have to sit still
  • Don’t hit your friends with fireballs
  • Make your death saves
  • Be nice
  • Your character can have good parents
  • I love D&D, you should too

For Dungeon Masters

  • Roll low numbers
  • Use a funny voice for gnomes
  • Don’t kill the characters
  • Make sure you wear a fun hat
  • Make sure you don’t use gelatinous cubes
  • If someone has to pee, take a break
  • The tarrasque is no fun for anyone
  • You should use more nice dragons
  • Never skip a player’s turn
  • Help the characters if they can’t win the battle
  • Give the characters fun magic items
  • It is ok to stay up past your bed time if you are playing Dungeons and Dragons
  • Have fun

Sounds like this 4-year-old will make quite the Dungeon Master someday (if he isn’t already behind that DM screen, that is).

Those who want to check out redwyrms TTRPG rap songs can find his work on YouTube and Spotify.
